The Sheldon Vexler Theatre is a state-of-the-art critically-acclaimed black box theatre. The theatre's namesake was a talented writer, wordsmith, and lover of words. He wrote, directed, and performed in a number of plays, and was active in the community.
The Vex is known to many as an experimental theatre where shows often have a "Vex twist" - something that makes the production truly unique to the theater.
Now in its 20th season, the Sheldon Vexler Theatre is proud to work with a number of local volunteer performers and designers to bring shows to life for the greater San Antonio community.

OUR TEam

Ken Frazier, Artistic Director
Ken has been The Vex's Artistic Director since the theater's inception in 1999. He often directs productions, while also designing and building sets, lights, and more. Many of the productions become a family affair, with his wife, Tami Kai, collaborating with him to direct or costume shows, and both sons, Kailyr and Konnor, lending a technical or artistic hand. In 2014's One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest (pictured), Ken, Tami, and Kailyr all performed in the show, while Konnor designed the set.
